The PUR Project partnered with Mondelēz International’s Cocoa Life Program to implement a 3-year agroforestry pilot program in Southeast Sulawesi from 2020 to 2022. The initiative focused on planting trees on cocoa farms to support sustainable farming practices and the goal of zero deforestation. With over 2,000 farmers trained and nearly 60,000 trees distributed across 1,900 hectares, the program not only enhanced cocoa production resilience but also provided economic opportunities through timber and non-timber forest products. It also emphasized community involvement, especially empowering women in farm management.
